What a Christmas

The surprise was on me this year. All of my kids, my mother showed up at our front door at 7:00 Christmas morning. The last I knew they were to arrive at about 1:00 a.m. December 26 so I didn't have presents wrapped or the food prepared since I had all day Christmas day to get it done. That way it would keep my mind occupied and not lonely on Christmas day, well I sure wasn't lonely. We had a wonderful day and it was the best surprise. Can't think of anything better to open your door in the morning and see 4 little faces, 3 of them saying, "Merry Christmas grandma"

I hope your Christmas was a very special day as well.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Year. I hope that your 2008 will prove to be an even better year than 2007, full of laughter and good friends and that you have good health. Take the time to smell the roses and enjoy those friends and family around you.

My First Challenge

As Member of the Month on Feeling Scrappy I got to post a challenge. My challenge was to use scallops in a layout and the first person posting their layout would win some ribbons from me. Way to go Peggy, the ribbons will be on their way to your home in Florida.

WE ARE IN

With the help of Todd, Kellie and Tyler we moved almost everything thing in yesterday and spent the first night in our new home. Now to get everything organized and get ready for Christmas.

Our new journey begins in the new home. Thank you to everyone who has helped, encouraged or just listened to us on our first step to many more wonderful walks along the way.

WE PASSED!!!!!
We had final inspection yesterday and we passed. Can you guess what we will be doing this weekend. If you have a free pair of hands and a strong back, come on over and we will put you to work.

Ally the Bruiser

Ally ran into the wall and really bruised her eye. Her eye is turning shades of blue and purple but on the mends. This was for a weekly challenge on Feeling Scrappy.

Tyler's 1st hair cut

He did really pretty good getting his hair cut, who wouldn't if they gave you a sucker. He didn't like the guy holding his head though.

I scrapped this for a challenge on Feeling Scrappy. Todd & Jorja really hit it off together and they both can be very silly. These were taken at Tyler's first birthday.

WE PASSED OUR MECHANICAL INSPECTION--We only have one more inspection to go. We need 2 things done before we can call for it, hand rail needs to be installed going down to the basement and the outside grade needs to be completed. Hopefully very, very soon we will be moving into our new home.

House update: we have to get the gas fireplace working and then we will have the final mechanical inspection. All that will be left is getting our final grade outside and the hand railing going down to the basement installed and we can callf or final inspection. It needs to happen quickly because we got a letter from Consumers yesterday stating that in 30 days they are going to disconnect all power to this house. It seems when we built the garage 3 years ago that a power line runs over the garage and that is a violation for Consumers. Now it seems in 3 years time that someone would have caught that long before now. When they came to run the new power for the house, they told us it would have to come down after we were moved into the new house. Notice I said AFTER we moved in.

Sure going to be interesting to get everything moved from this old house into the new house in lesss than 30 days, especially since we have passed final inspection yet.

I love our new house and it has been a labor of love and many new experiences along the way. Many disappointments, some tears, lots of learning and great times together. We could not have done this without the help of Todd & Kellie. Todd who came and helped Phil each weekend and Kellie for coming and sharing Tyler with me and allowing her husband to help.

I am a little behind on my scrapping since this for Jorja's 2nd birthday party. She had a great time watching the other kids use the slip and slide. This is for a sketch challenge on Creative Express.

This is for her 3rd birthday. Since they hadn't met a lot of friends, she picked going to Medival Times for her birthday. If you pull on the tassel it opens so you can read the journaling. It's had to believe how much our little girl grew in just one year.

Isn't he just the more adorable little guy. I printed this on a transparency and I am very pleased how it turned out.

This is Tyler's first year of being able to play in leaves. He had a ball in them.

This is our master shower. I just finished grouting it today, which also means all my grouting is done.

For those who asked, what is up where I was standing, here is what it looks like from inside.

I finished all the windows, yea, except for the 4 in the basement which will be done when I get more stain.

Flooring done on East side of house

Phil finished up the floor in the purple room and the hallway. I love it and think he did a great job.

For those of you who said, I would never climb the ladder to do the windows in the turret, I did. So far, they are sanded and stained.

As the Years Turn

When my kids were little they played in the lazy susan and took all the cans and stuff out and played with them on the floor. Now my grandson is doing the same thing. Couldn't resist taking this picture of one more generation playing the lazy susan.

Master Closet Tile floor

Phil is almost done laying the tile in the master closet, it looks just like wood doesn't it? I love it.
